Forgiveness

April 9, 2008
By Alyssa Smith, Hamilton, TX

I'm sorry,
You whisper.
Your voice blends
With the wind.
I want
To trust you again.
Can I?
I breathe deeply
And think.
(I'm sorry.)
An apologetic look
On your face
As you wait for my reply.
I think
You mean what you say
This time.
Forgiving you sounds nice.
Really nice.
You're sorry.
I gaze down
At our intertwined hands.
You and me.
We go together.
Even if you lie to me
A little too often...
I forgive you.
