Trees

A home and refuge for birds and squirrels
Holding strong against the blustery gale
Steadfast it holds its ground when a wind whirls
Standing firm and tall so it will not fail.
The roots spread out and conquer their domain
Absorbing nutrients along the way
Giving it the lifelong strength to sustain
Its steadfast grip upon the earth to stay.
Swaying in the breeze, leaves bounce to and fro
Life-giving oxygen for us is made
Colors changing as with the seasons flow
Spreading its leaves to give shelter and shade.
This tree I gaze at watching all its grace
And underneath its shade I find my place.
