"It is very good advice to believe only what an artist does, rather then what he says about his work."~David Hockney

I was walking through school one day
I looked at the wall and was like, HEY!
There was something new
Something on the wall with glue...
It stood five letters wide
Twenty metres high...

This sign changed my days
The sign saying NO PDA?!
My hands held to protect my eyes
From such a big surprise
My mind in a jail cell
Then there was the bell
For which followed an announcement for hell
"There shall be no more PDA"
"No more signs of play"
"Between the students of this school"
"PDA is not cool"

The days to pass were not the same
And who was this to blame
The rule makers, of course
For the rules breakers, of course
And yet "Trust has to be earned, not given"
How do we know your not kissin'?

Hawks line the halls with ruler
Squawks echo the halls downright sooner
Hands length apart
No flirting is our new motto
Inside the school we begin to plot, oh?

But then there comes this new invention called detention
Where all you do is sit
They'll put you out, if you throw a fit

So I guess I'll have to keep to myself
Sit short like an little elf
And keep my lips to myself for the time being
No more kissing and no more seeing...

A students freedom was taken away
Many on this very same day!
No more Paul and Jen on the stairs
And no more Julie and Ben gripping each others hair...

No more me and her
No more snogging, err

Next day at the auditorium
Something said it was forever
No me and you
A jail
One from each other
And that of time
This is a rule with a line.

Tomorrow the walls will be painted black and white
We will to
And I can't fight
Unless someone joins me...?
Not saying you would?
This isn't a plea.

Instead it's a nice kind suggestion
Saying that the rules you put up.
Sort of, well, lets phrase it...
"Sort of suck".

This is a slam poem. For those of you who don't know what a slam poem is, it's a poem that relates to the problems we have today. Such as social issues and growing up or even school.
The words may not all rhyme, but the main part of a slam poem is how the poet preforms the lyrics. We were made to perform in class in front of everyone.
