The clock on the wall is killing me,
Draining away my precious life,
Ten years, now 50, no 60,
As lethal as a knife.

This train only goes one way,
Can’t turn back for a soul.
The baby is now 20,
Leaving an unfillable hole.

Each minute takes away an hour,
Each hour a day,
Wasting time like wasting money,
Throwing it all away.

There is one disappearing act
That we all get to see,
One minute you are seventeen,
The next you’re fifty-three.

The old want to be young again,
The young want to be older,
Make the most of what you have,
As the sand’s only slipping lower
