New Beginnings

April 3, 2008
By Julia Horowitz, Oakton, VA

The clock on the wall, slowly ticking
The future that only time is picking
Another year has flown on by
Another lost chance, another lost try

Another heart broken,
Another friendship lost,
Another selfish act
I did, no matter the cost

Yet look at the horizon
And just like a new dawn,
The new year’s approaching
And singing its song

A song of new beginnings,
A song of pure desire,
A song of true love
Burning strong with new fire

A song of wistful hope,
A song of fresh dreams,
A song of sunrises, where
Things are just as they seem

And through this new-coming
The answers are here
Let’s welcome this change
And ring in the new year
