When exhaustion builds and homework piles,
And in-class essays expend the day,
It’s coffee that gets me through the miles.

As soothing as cold hard tile,
It turns the world to black and gray,
When exhaustion builds and homework piles.

The sieve strained, the lips beguiled,
No finer price I’d rather pay,
It’s coffee that gets me through the miles.

The old man toasts with crooked smile,
Down the hatch, there is no other way –
When exhaustion builds and homework piles.

The warmth, the passion of a child,
Flushes the cheeks but cannot stay,
It’s coffee that gets me through the miles.

The organic cup sweetly defiles,
Lord, what machinations prey!
When exhaustion builds and homework piles,
It’s coffee that gets me through the miles.
