Favorite Quote:
life is not about the amount of breaths you take but the moments that take your breath away

The windshield wipers stroke the car
fear fills the air because we don't know where you are
your mother weeps in the front seat
but the only thing your father hears is his heartbeat
this baby girl is way to young
to soak up this evil like a sponge
Columbia isn't far but it feels like forever
fore his daughter's life hangs by a tether
why is she doing this? how did I fail?
funeral letters is the last thing he wants to mail
thee exit draws closer as he is about to explode
if this doesn't go as planned the situation will implode
he sees her sweet auburn hair
and a sight he can't bear
she is fragile his baby
she hasn't given up maybe
her eyes meet his gaze as they pull up
he feels as if his heart will erupt
his sweet baby girl in a crumpled mess
from her scarred past that she had to confess
his wife jumps out of a car to greet her
but he can't move not even a centimeter
his eyes fill with tears as he remembered the day
when he first held her with dismay
she is still his baby though she is confused
this isn't a joke and he isn't amused
he holds out his arms for his baby girl to find
he hugs he tight though there is a lot on his mind
the long road ahead is daunting you see
but he whispers "I love you, please never leave me."

The author's comments:
My best friend ran away and it really hit me hard. That night I wrote this to explain what was going on. She is back home safe and sound but it is still difficult. I wrote this from the perspective of her parents to explain to her the serious nature of the situation.
