A vast blue ocean,
a white sandy beach,
a broken dream,
and a heart that's missed a beat.

A mom that you love,
a friend that cares,
a house that's a hell,
and a 'dad' that's always there.

A cup of water,
a hope you'll never lose,
a toast to your cell,
and a glass full of booze.

A loving smile,
a carefree laugh,
a raised voice,
and a family ripped in half.

A warm sunny day,
a picnic under a tree,
a mother in tears,
and it's the last that you'll see.

This poem is a sort of wake up call to myself that, despite the good things in life, their has always been, and always will be, some bad things too.
