Ten Years Ago
I remember the pain I felt when you said goodbye to me
The only thing I would think about,
Is the giant hug you gave me
Today wasn’t the same without you
I sat in my tiny desk with my blue chair
I looked at the clock and wondered when it was time
When it was time for you to come get me
Now I’m ten years older and smarter
Sitting in a different desk in every class
In a bigger building with more people
Wondering when the time will come
When the time will come for you to come get me
And I’m still thinking about the giant hug you gave me
Ten years ago
