A Hero's Worry Beads
The soldier cries unwonted tears;
bleeding from world hardened eyes;
his second blanches at his fears
of where among hills the battle lies.
And clutched in blood hardened cloth, a note
and held in trembling hand he reads:
delusions lies and how hope floats,
that life is lost, the truth is here and bullets are his worry beads.
Treat the hand and burn the note
call the comrades, unlock the cages
grab your gun and don your coat
and eager run to where the battle rages.
