Ding-a-ling-ding-a-ling-ding!
Children grin, their quick feet
Patter along sunny sidewalks
Shimmering in a baking heat.
Tongues peek from dry mouths
And lick parched lips, waiting
To savor the sprinkled scoops.
Mondy peels from moist palms;
Worn sandals tap a quick beat
To the jingling ice cream truck.
Hands reach for waffled cones;
Boys and girls relish the caress
Of frostiness soothing the heat.
Ding-a-ling-ding-a-ling-ding!
