Waiting

March 26, 2008
By Cassidy Kindred, Sandpoint, ID

The silence is deafening
My ears ache from lack of sound
No scratched plastic vibrating
No ringing filling the air
Silence...
And I'm waiting

The blackness is obsolete
The weight pressing down upon my eyelids
No faint blue glow emerges
No pulsing orange light appears
Darkness...
And I'm waiting

The distance between us keeps growing
Although we sit side by side
No whispered words of comfort
No smile lighting up the room
Fear...
And I'm waiting
