Weary Watcher

On the side of the road stands a girl
She can't seem to catch a ride
Standing in cold ocean waters
Fighting futilely with the tide

On the outside she's encased with
A body that's fifteen
But the eyes meeting yours
Are much older from things seen

She's an angel with sad eyes
And a broken wing
Her feet will never leave the ground
Of excruciating heartbreak does she sing

She's the patron of young orphans
The confidant of unrequited love
Too early lost innocence
Things people refuse to talk of

She quietly, patiently waits
Bearing burdens you'll never know
Silently pleading for someone, anyone
To let her in out of the icy snow
