Miles of Manhatten's Route

The atlantic ocean called my name
sending shivers down my spine.
freezing my sadness into place.
The autumn breeze calmed my spite
tranquilizing all doubt
while, in sympathy, soothing the pain.

The pins in my back went deeper
contradicting their acupuncture reason
and the calm turned into a storm as my sunny-day season
burned away.

Manhatten’s arms held my worries
and threw them back to the south.
I left that part of me back in Enterprise,
there's no need to call nostalgia back to my mouth.
