- What Matters
what could happen
We’re all waiting,
Waiting for the team to emerge
from the locker room.
Their excitement controlling
our extending energy, we’re waiting and watching
whispering in our quiet wondering excitement.
Suspense builds, no one seems to be breathing.
Eyes wide open.
I hear the stands start to scream.
Hearts racing, the roaring
of the crowd pumps the teams up even more.
Even more than what their coach did
in the locker room before they made their voyage
on to that lonely court.
For some of them it will be the last time,
The last time they get to run out on to that court
and play that game. This is their last chance,
the chance to be the champs.
This could be the team everyone would
remember for years to come.
The final, we have the team this year,
we could go the distance.
That’s my team down there I watch as I’m proud.
Either way, is what I think to myself
as I watch them calmly, breathing heavily. Either way, if they win
or lose they’re still the best.
They made it this far, they’re champs in our hearts.
They’re champs in our head, they’re champs.
