These have I loved: cutting into ripened lemons;
dancing to Salsa music no one else can hear;
stepping furiously, hand in hand, and DIP!;
fireworks exploding with dazzling light,
gleaming off Lake Maxinkuckee;
hearing promises that sound so sweet;
rumbling footsteps of rowdy children;
lying on the hammock at night;
warmth of hugs;
smiles shared;
holding satiny hands;
my first shooting star zipping;
searching for Ursa Major;
a plump sun rising over towering pine trees;
never trying to act, or be, or think differently;
knowing joys of childhood and holding on;
laughing at the clumsiness of falling;
the smells of Lake Festival layering;
Breyer’s ice cream dripping;
falling….
