Look out on the street!
Faux-doctors scalp their patients into a coma.
In a drunken stupor, their frozen
scalpels miss flesh and hit bone.
Three cheers for the Good Man,
-- for whom we have lost so many. –
At the gallows, the noose is a halo,
the hangman wears a crown of thorns.
After the relics have been stolen,
crusaders are stacked like books in a library.
People speak of statistics, and ancient lore.
They hand saviors axes and point.
