"You're nawt gonna believe this!"

The boy in love, heart aflutter, nervous
He sees her figure, slim, tall, unaware
Mouth smiling, eyes shining, talking to her
Friend, not noticing the boy’s intense stare

He works up nerve to start conversation
“Hi” he starts- smile on his eager bright face
Her smile gets bigger, she looks more beautiful
“What’s up?” she asks, gaze holding him in place

“The usual stuff” aware that his voice
Has somehow dropped low- sounds even deeper
Arms open for a hug, a chance to hold
Safe in his arms he would like to keep her

Bell rings; lockers slam; she takes a step back
Her thoughts on him, all that she’s thinking of
He’s oblivious, clueless, doesn’t know
She too has become the girl in love.

I wrote this as an assignment for my english class. The idea was to write a poem in the style of Robert Frost. This is one of my favorite poems that I wrote. This poem was inspired by someone I know and I kind of tried to get into his mind and describe the girl the way I think he would.
