I Can't

I can't.
I can't stand the way you put me down,
like I'm some cold hearted soul.
you wish tears upon my cheeks,
just waiting for my downfall.
I can't.
I can't love you like I should,
with you dominating your throne.
I take your words of hatred,
and fill my head with lies.
I can't.
I can't stand your screaming voice,
telling me I'm worth nothing,
telling me I'll never be something,
telling me things I hate to hear.
I can't.
I can't hear these stabbing words,
these phrases I wish to diminish.
You with to feel superior,
making my life some bitter hell.
I can't.
I can't be all those things,
ugly? not good enough? dumb?
You devour my self esteem to shreds,
my confidence just some corpse.
I can't.

i really love this piece. its so important and it obviously shows emotions straight from the heart. alexandria b. took her heart and emotions and put it on here for all of us to connect with and to feel the pain she has felt.

I think this poem shows character. I think this author wrote about what she knows, which is the key to writing, in my opinion. I think she did an outstanding job expresses her emotions toward one subject.
