The Terror

By
The muffled screams,
The faded tears,
The terrifying dreams,
The bloodcurdling fears.

The unbound shame,
The sleepless nights,
The fear of becoming insane,
The unspoken frights.

The helplessness and silent cries,
The forced loss of innocence,
The lies behind the wary eyes,
The terror of sexual violence.

The girl lost behind the iron mask,
Help was all she needed.
Was that too much to ask?
She just needed to be kindly treated.

Instead she is a pariah, an outcast.
She flinches even at the gentlest touch.
Lurking behind her eyes is a miserable past.
Was asking for help just too much?

The man who broke her heart,
The pain that separated skin from bone,
The violence tore her apart.
She was broken and all alone.

No one heard the muffled screams.
No one saw the faded tears.
No one felt the shattered dreams.
No one tasted the tears caused by fears.

He ran off with her innocence,
He stole away her gold.
His random act of violence
Utterly destroyed her innocent soul.

No one can see the scars.
No one will know how she feels inside.
She only wants to fly above the stars.
No one will help her; she is pushed aside.

A mother that rejects,
Friends that will never understand.
A father that forgets
She only does the best she can.

The rape, the molest,
The terror, the torment, the rage,
A soul that never rests
And needs released from its cage.

She is still recovering to this day.
She is distant from all family and friends.
Her horrid memories won't fade away.
She is tensely waiting for the bitter end.

amazing and it really draws you in... I love it, even though the subject matter is very dark it's relatable and so well-done that you forget for a moment how very awful it is that this happens to people. Great work... it's beautiful.

Think you could check out my stuff sometime? You might like my poem Sowing Poppies
