"Foul is fair, fair is foul" (Looks can be deceiving)

This is a story about
A girl who hates emotions,
Once her heart was broken,
She felt the pain inside,
The pain she tired to hide

She promised herself she
Would never love again,
But how long could she
Really pretend, pretend
That emotions don't exist,
She never thought
She would feel like this

If only emotions didn't exist,
Saying goodbye wouldn't
Be so hard, but because of the
Existence of emotions, saying
Goodbye leads up to tears, tears led up to fear,
The fear of opening up your heart again,
The fear of letting someone back in

What is love?
Is it to make us feel safe,
Or is it just a game to play?
Love is like a battle
Just like a game of scrabble,
It's our choice of what word to make,
Just like it's our choice of which path to take

This girl had to be wise
If she ever met another guy,
She couldn't open her heart
too soon, because she already
played that tune

If only emotions didn't exist,
There wouldn't be no right
Or wrong path to take, but
Because of the existence of emotions,
There might be regrets and mistakes,
But if emotions didn't exist,
then what kind of world is this?

It's funny how I started this story
With she, when really this is all about me,
When I see him, I keep my head held high,
And the only regret I have is saying goodbye,
But I have to move on, we live and learn,
And life goes on, I can only play my part,
And remember to play it smart, and
This time try not to end up with a broken heart

When I wrote this I thought about how emotions affect you in a negative way, but you learn from the mistakes.
