Watch Me
I’ve had to deal with this all my life
But this time I just don’t understand
Why are you looking at me?
I can feel your eyes watching my every step
As my hips swing left to right
I can hear you whisper as you past me
But you’re not speaking clearly
Why do you say those things?
As if you understand
As if you know who I really am
Misunderstood in a world that has too many rules
Don’t walk with your left foot first
Don’t talk too loud
Don’t wear pink with green
Don’t this
Don’t that
How about don’t judge me
5’2, dark skin
I am who I am
I like my music loud
I walk proud & I am easy to understand
I wear my hair long with a slight curl going down my back
I concentrate on the finer things in life
But I notice the worthless things that cross my path
I don’t yarn on support from others
Because I have came to the conclusion that I am who I am
I like my pumps tall with shiny lip gloss on
Forget a boyfriend I hold myself down strong
I am confident but yet you still watch me
I have nothing but one more question to ask
Do you like what you see?
