Gazed into the sky
Wished upon a star
To no longer be a butterfly
Trapped inside a jar.

Swelled up with rage
Seemed no one knows what it's like to be
A bird in a cage
Longing to be free.

Cried like a child
Stolen away, was your childhood
An animal taken from the wild
You don't cry tears, you cry blood.

After a while
Through all the rain
Your smile
No longer hides the pain.
