Death Of A Soldier

Shaved head
Marine Corps boots
Dressed in camies
Ready to serve
He wore his uniform proud
Ready to fight when called upon
With tears in his eyes
He stood young and proud
And said good-bye

Years went by
There was a war
A letter received with a knock on the door reading
"If you're reading this
I'm already home
Don't cry for me
I died for others just as you would for me
I'll wait for you at the golden gate
Tell St. Pete I won't go in
Not without you that is"

Tears streamed down a mothers face
A she put it away
Thank you sir she said
With a letter and a medal
In place of her son
