Does it irk you that I read Shakespeare for fun?
You laugh when I say I like Hamlet.
Does it bother you that I worry about auditions
while you work out for varsity soccer?
You smile at each other when
you see me tug my tap shoes out of my locker
and I hear your giggles down the hall
as you throw your
big important track bag over your shoulder.
Does it amuse you when I say I studied for a test
instead of watching that trashy show on TV last night?
Does it annoy you that I don’t wear lipstick to school
while you slip into the bathroom between classes
to reapply your Ruby Red?
Are you frightened by the fact that maybe
just maybe
I don’t want to fit into the mold that comes free with your
Teen and YM magazines?

You're great for writing this. =)
