No one knows why they’re here, and nobody knows why they’re back. No one can conceive
when they came, but soon our world will be bathed in black.
The Gobblers are here!
Don’t look around you, don’t look in the mirror, they’re here, they’re there, they’re everywhere, feeding on our fear.
Making bulbs explode and
flicker in the night of dark. They
spread the plague, they love the screams
as people all
come running back.
Flashes of lightning in the dead of night, then
you can see them, so clear, so bright.
The Gobblers are
here, beware mortal, you have been warned.
Like gargoyles they
sit among the rafters, listen quietly, you can
hear their laughter.
Look closely
and you may see the doom
that is you and me.
So lie in fear you may if our planet does decay
and whither and wilt this big blue rock
if it’s fate you do so lock.
But in safety you may sleep if our planet
no more weeps
and sweats it’s ice away and
the hole in the Earth is repaired anew, the Gobblers
they are gone too.
