The blinding light is flickering
And then it fades to black
The truth settles upon me:
The light’s not coming back
The darkness takes my breath
And my thoughts begin to win
Growing loud until a scream
They remind me of my sin
I start to run, but trip upon
An obstacle not seen
My patience is running thin
My anger turns obscene
The heart within my chest
Beats only bitter pain
My eyes are dropping tears
As heavy as the rain
My calls for help are echoing
My voice is losing faith
So I stop to scream and stop my tears
And I just sit and wait
Time is slowly ticking
The dark stays just as thick
A voice within me wonders
“How did I get to this?”
What’s the use of trying
When there’s no hope in sight?
I feel my body tighten
And then it ends the fight.
