Lost.
Future's coming quick,
blink, and it's up and gone.
Tomorrows turn into yesterdays,
and she wonders how everyone moved on.
Except for her it seemed.
She's still stuck in the past
brooding over lost dreams.
Everyone else moved too fast.
Always left behind
made it easy to fade away.
But if anyone tried to look, she wasn't hard to find.
Tried to stand on her own,
but she only fell under pressure.
Being miss independent felt so alone;
she never felt good enough for measure.
Faith that used to seem so sure
was tested, and she failed the course.
Try and try again, but she couldn't find a cure.
She knew she had forgiveness,
but a second chance she thought she didn't deserve.
Instead she chose to walk a different path.
The road not taken she decided to swerve
and blindly follow the crowd because it was easier.
Like everyone else, she chose to stop caring,
maybe then, would the pain start to lessen.
Nonetheless, her heart wouldn't stop tearing.
So a word to the wise,
don't make yourself numb.
Free yourself from the lies
that society tries to feed you
before you find yourself
breathing your last and wondering
where your life went when it was just sitting on the shelf.
