Heart racing, nostalgia kicking in, sweet rendezvous.

Life altering moment, this chance is one in a million.

Confidence races through, step onto the stage. Diamond

sparkles on your face, breathe in. Let the light illuminate

your entire being. Make them know you, make your name glisten

in the stars. This is a privilege, but a chosen lifestyle.

Struggles, so many to reach this ultimate lifestyle.

The alluring atmosphere, unexpected rendezvous

in the moonlight, hearts ignited, desires glisten

within. Tears fell, more than a million.

Only to ultimately dry as beautiful jewels that illuminate

your purpose. Beauty so rare, precious as a diamond.

Look now, your smile shines brighter than a diamond,

yet your beauty can’t prepare you for the adrenaline of this lifestyle.

Let the butterflies go, take a deep breath, prepare to illuminate.

Put on your poker face and put on a show in this critical rendezvous.

Prove that you’re worth it. Over a million

are watching, waiting for you to stumble, but instead see your passion glisten.

Suddenly your inhibitions fly away. You glisten

with pride as you perform your heart out. Diamond

shapes twinkle across your face. One in a million

is who you are. But welcome to the lifestyle

of the rich and famous. It all starts with one rendezvous.

Addicted to the passion, your pride causes you to illuminate.

Performing for the adrenaline, rushing through to illuminate

your talent. Dancing, laughing, your enjoyment glistens

on your face. This is your rendezvous.

You have earned it, you deserve this supreme diamond.

From a small town, to this overpowering lifestyle.

Remembering where you’re from when you make the first million.

Look back; see that little girl, in the midst of a million.

Scared to open up, scared to illuminate

the room, you have now made it far, to this very lifestyle.

Proud of every step, letting your past glisten

upon your face. Your struggles and hardships, turned to diamonds

in your eyes. Blue as the sea on an afternoon rendezvous.

When you act, upon that stage your heart glistens

for the audience to see. Then it is clear that this rare diamond

has made it. You’ve succeeded in life, the supreme rendezvous.

I wrote this poem, which is called a sestina, for my 11th grade creative writing portfolio in English class.
