If I wasn't afraid
I would touch you
If I wasn't afraid
I would sleep

If I wasn't afraid
I would not look away
Or put myself out as a freak

If I wasn't afraid
I would let myself dream
If I wasn't afraid
I'd not play pretend
If I wasn't afraid
I'd eat apples and cream
And deliver the letters I've been meaning to send

And...
I wouldn't hide behind a face of cracked powder
I wouldn't hood my windows with teeth
I would go on, I'd illuminate power
My smile would be real, my skin wouldn't preach

If I wasn't afraid
I'd wave goodbye

I would take out my wings
And fly

And if I wasn't afraid...

I would journey alone
I would color the clouds pink
But I'm so afraid
I'm carved out of stone
Fearing what others might think
