Doldrums

February 15, 2008
By Anonymous

Clouds weep their empty sorrow over oceans of nothing
Tumbleweeds roll on into the dry, endless desert where the entire caravan yawns
The radio plays white noise all day long
for ballerinas who do not dance
A closed sign hangs on the window of an ice cream store which sells only vanilla
A student does his homework in a library with no books
Careless highways stretch around the sleeping globe
And the weary timekeeper watches intently
A clock that never ticks
