Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others is strength; mastering yourself is true power. Lao-Tzu

To care or not to care that is the question.
Is it better to sit and listen to any idiot who wishes to speak their
mind or simply ignore?
To listen to the fortune and misfortune of others,
Leading to spites of jealousy and pity,
No one ever wants to be pitted,
Is it simply human nature to hate the well off and pity the poor?
Those natures seem to be a tragedy in themselves,
But what of those who don’t care?
Simply ignoring the poverty around them focusing on themselves,
Are they truly selfish or can they not deal with the sight of others
suffering all around them?
But there are still those who truly don’t care,
Taking what they want not thinking for themselves or others,
Desiring simply self gain,
Makes such a simple act of listening seem irrelevant,
But is it?
Who’s to say where the lines drawn between ignoring and stealing?
People don’t become stone hearted overnight,
People are taught all their life to care and still they don’t,
I have chosen to care,
Realizing in a darkening world one person who chooses to listen to
care can be the brightest flicker of hope.
