Fireflies
Here they come dancing
what a happy crowd!
Twisting this and that way
through the whole night long.

Peering through the bushes,
flying round and round,
High towards the blue,
low towards the ground.
Now they bunch together
now they separate far,

Countless lights are gleaming,

each one like a star.

Delightful, wondrous sight,

eyes to brighten at their gaze.

By their intense light

brightening the night.

Lending us their beauty,

bringing us their liveliness,
Taking from the night-time,
every sense of fear.

Glittering and fluttering

on the constant go,

Fireflies dancing swiftly

to and fro.

Fireflies flying in the breeze,
fireflies in the trees.

Shining in the depths
of in the shadowy night,

Everywhere in flight

drifting through the breeze like a kite.
