Elementary School
Do you remember elementary school?
When he used to hate me?
The time he gave me a picture
that had my friend and I being eaten
by dogs.
The time when she spit Coke on me
because I’m “just that funny”.
The time I was so excited for recess after Benchmark,
I fell on my face,
but kept running.
Or the time when I got a pink slip
for hitting him with a ruler.
The time my friends and I sat on the track,
and told him that she was going to
break up with him.
The time a bird pooped on my head.
Twice.
And she told the person I
Despised
Most.
The time I got hit in the face
during dodge ball.
The time I beat her in a race.
The time she held me back
when I was getting too worked up
during a fight.
The time when I spit chocolate milk
in her face.
The time I got in trouble with my best friend,
by the
Dragon Lady.
Or the time we square danced
on fifth grade day,
and our parents planned a sleep-over.
The time we tried to steal his jacket,
and he yelled at us.
And who could forget:
Making new friends
Was
The
Best
Part.
