The day has been ticking by fast
I am falling behind. I am not on task
Turning the present into the past
The sun begins to put on its mask

I am falling behind. I am not on task
As the twinkling lights start to appear
The sun begins to put on its mask
I know that the night is near

As the twinkling lights start to appear
Her face is peaking over the horizon of the sky
I know that the night is near
The sliver of orange finally says goodbye

Her face is peaking over the horizon of the sky
Her brilliant white starts to gleam
The sliver of orange finally says goodbye
Now I can finally dream

Her brilliant white starts to gleam
Turning the present into the past
Now I can finally dream
The day has been ticking by fast

I love the peace and serenity of the night. The poem form almost gives it a sense of a lullaby. My new favorite to write in.
