All Good Things Fade

I'll fade
like the lines on the paper
like the stars when clouds cross the sky
I'll fade
like the memory of where you put your keys
They're in your coat pocket, but you'll never realize
I'll fade
like the chalk on the sidewalk
and like the children who mature and grow old

I'll fade
like the kisses on your cheek,
like the warmth of my hand in yours
I'll fade
like flowers in winter,
blooming only when sun prevails
I'll fade like a message in a bottle you throw out to sea
and I'll fade like it's all you've ever wanted
