I yearn to take the reins of Time
I yearn to take the reins of Time,
To tame its whimsical ways;
My Heart and Mind—they cannot stand
The tricks Time always plays.
For when my love is ever near,
Time speeds with celerity;
But I desire sluggishness—
I long for Eternity.
Every moment with my love,
The Minutes quickly fleeting,
The ticking of the Seconds pass—
fast as my Heart is beating.
I beg of Time—I wish away—
“Please make the Clocks run slow!”
Yet He thinks not to please me,
He leaves me wanting more.
And when my love and I do part,
Time chooses to rest just then—
The day drags on, I ache for night—
When Dreams bring my love again.
