No School Today
No school today, so I slept in
And never heard the snow begin
To fall in lightly from the sky
For cuddled in my bed was I
A blizzard, I did not intend
White flurries fly, twirl, and descend
Empty gardens, they do fill in
With no delay, the flakes whisk by
No school today
Each faster than the last has been
Rapid and free, I watch them spin
They make the trees and power lines
Bow down before their icy cry
And in my house, I wear a grin
No school today!
