Mother's Day Garden

Cucumbers are long,
as long as could be.
Just like I am,
all six feet of me.

Habaneros are hot,
as hot as could be.
Just like the summers,
we spent at the beach.

Tomatoes are red,
as red as could be.
Just like your face,
when your work in the heat.

Strawberries are sweet,
as sweet as could be.
Just like you are,
when you are with me.

Sage smells so lovely,
as lovely as could be.
Just like you do,
when you embrace me.

You've raised your garden,
since I was age three.
You've helped it flourish,
as you have helped me.

The author's comments:
I wrote this poem for my mother a few days before mother's day. I just wanted her to have something that wasn't so materialistic and that would actually mean something to her. I liked the poem to her favorite activity, gardening, and just wrote about things that i think about when i think of her.
