The ball, slammed,
stuck in the mud stricken
PK spot
The crowd, in unison
stands, waves, their arms,
chant, “Swan, Swan, Swan”
Joy fills Swan’s face, he turns,
pumps his fist to the gods.
The crowd’s shouts
arouse the stadium,
like a train approaching
Slow motion,
The ball floats towards the goal…
Wide right.
