Hope Laughter and Full of Questions
Outside:
I am constantly filled with laughter:
When friends say things in goofy accents
Watching my dog stand on her head
Trying to get her treat,
Or just laughing
For no reason at all.
Inside:
I experience death,
Bad grades
Diseases;
Feelings of everything
I know and understand being
Unclear, hazy, and distant.
Outside:
My smile puts those golden rays to shame
Inside:
I question everything:
Why is it that rain
Can make people feel gloomy
If it makes the brown grass green,
And seeds blossom?
Inside:
Why do people hide emotions
Deep in their hearts
When they have the whole world
Filled with nature to share?
Inside:
Why do people try so hard to
Dress, act, talk,
And live their lives the same exact way
When, on the inside:
They know they are better than that?
Inside:
I gaze up at the night sky
Letting the stars give me my reflection
Outside:
They are just twinkly stars
Scattered like deer in a pasture.
Outside:
I see myself looking at the moon
Full and mysterious in my eyes
Inside:
The moon is nothing but a sliver
Doing the only thing it can do:
Pretending to be bright, comparing what little she has
With the stars
Comparing what little I have to those other stars.
