Memory Poem

Two summers ago I can’t quite recall.
That long bright summer and all that heat.
The long days, and then the sun would fall.
Crisp clear water with sand beneath my feet.

That long bright summer and all that heat.
I almost remember him tan and tall.
Crisp clear water with sand beneath my feet.
I barely remember that smile at all.

I almost remember him tan and tall.
He was so innocent and sweet.
I barely remember that smile at all.
He seemed to make my summer complete.

He was so innocent and so sweet.
Laid out next to a sand castle and a beach ball.
He seemed to make my summer complete.
All my life it seemed he was hidden by a wall.

Laid out next to a sand castle and a beach ball.
I could not keep my eyes off of him as I took a seat.
All my life it seemed he was hidden by a wall.
Next summer I can only hope for a repeat.
