A letter recovered from war,
In a box long since forgotten,
Sits next to pictures of my love
And a ring to me begotten.

A note’s inscribed ‘I love you’ near
A letter recovered from war.
Close behind, scraps of a white dress
And sand from my honeymoon’s shore.

An audio tape of his voice,
Cards that made me weak at the knees,
A letter recovered from war
Lies to the right of all of these.

His bottle of mucky cologne,
A picture of our house before,
Tear stained napkins from when I read
A letter recovered from war.
