O Wisp of Wind

O wisp of wind that smells of smoke
and dances ’round my feet,
and silent stirs the leaves of oak
and brings a taste so sweet,

O wisp of wind that stirs my heart
and lifts my voice to song,
and dries my tears and sets apart
the days of months run long,

O wisp of wind that feels like home
and turns my mind to fall,
Same wisp that runs through
earthen tombs
and brings the pheasant’s call,

O wisp of wind that holds tight like
a lover’s hand in mine,
bring love back to my doorstep and
our hands again entwine.
