I Am Here
I am here
 Lonely and lost
In a wood grown dark as a moonless eve
 Shadows covering
 But I am here

 I am here
 As the seas grow dark
And the blue brine heavens coalse in time with the sea below
Sitting in an empty wooden vessel
On a journey I lack to comprehend
 But I am here

 I am here
 The darkness penetrates
 It takes my voice
 But know
 Please know
 I am here

 I am here
 But here is bleak, frigid
For the whirling winds bellow with an unknown furry
Beating as the waves that crash heavily my bare, vulnerable back
 Screaming with an undying anguish
 I am here

 But look
Look deep into my ocean blue eyes
Painted as God did the canvas of the earth long, long ago
 And see the child
 That I am
 See me

 And reach
 Stretch your hand
 Soft and warm
And let it caress that of my own
Let it be as a path bright and shining from this darkness
And a tide carrying me ever so gently home from the wide open seas
For you are my light in the darkness
 If only you knew
 I am here
