The Last Words

So weak, so tired,
she watches every movement being made,
my cousin’s running around.
She doesn’t know what’s going on.
Tears run down my face like a wishing well.
I can only concentrate on my empty heart.

I am so exhausted, and I think,
she’s going to be in a better place.
She always taught me how to smile, so I do, but
I’m not ready to say goodbye.
“I’ll miss you, I love you Grandma,” I whisper.
I squeeze Grandpa’s hand so tight,
I see sudden twitches of her hand.
“I love you”
are the last words she said.
A deep hole,
inside like my life is coming to an end.
A mother, a wife, a grandma and more,
in my heart forever and always.
