We Wear the Mask
We wear the mask of joy and happiness
Every day we try to impress
There’s always something not good enough
From our bodies and skin to make-up
It’s disappointing when we try our best, yet nobody seems to notice
Why do we try to be perfect?
All we’re looking for is some respect
Each day we are brought down by people who point out our imperfections
This is how some girls get themselves into confusing situations
We Wear the Mask
They want positive attention they don’t receive
Instead, they turn to boys to help them feel complete
All of us want to be our own person
We shouldn’t have to second guess ourselves
I guess people don’t understand it’s not fun to grow up so fast
We Wear the Mask
