Fire, embers, flames, ignited
The little sparks dance, excited

The Spirit struck the flint on steel
And started the fire that I now feel

To start, the fire just needed a bit
But now I strive to keep it lit

In everything I say and do
Lord, let my light so shine for you

And thought it may be said
That ignorance is bliss
There is no greater joy
Than the one that’s found in this
In a world of darkness,
Let the people see the light
That comes from God the father
And illuminates my life
And if I try to kill the flame
That burns inside my soul
May I remember what is true
And rekindle that flame of old

For yes, it has been many years
That I have followed You
And tried my best to do what’s right
And believed Your word is true
But every fire must be fed
And I must do my part
To keep the embers lighted
In the fire of my heart

The author's comments:
“You are the light of the world. People do not light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."

~ Matthew 5: 14-16
