Now as I begin my writing

Now as I begin my writing,
My mind and soul within me fighting,
I dream of an ocean of colorful light.
Now slips away my grip on reason.
Quickly leaves this fleeting season.
Bemused, I gaze upon this wondrous
sight.

I look about me, not quite certain,
When or where the dreaded curtain
Will close upon this mortal act.
In pondering sweet, I roar in laughter,
In case tonight the final chapter
Concludes. For lifespan remains an
unknown fact.

Doom and death across the sky.
People glance with but a sigh.
They lack knowledge of their being.
The light’s in reach for all to gain,
but many won’t endure the pain.
They end their lives with pointless
pleading.

Thoughts seldom by mankind bereft.
The sheep are gone, and we are left
With dogs of doom who play the part.
Time slips by like sand through
fingers,
And soon we’ll see that he who
lingers
Is he who heeded his own heart.
