Grandpa, remember when you would give us Hershey kisses from your shirt pocket?
Then we would receive them like flying rockets? It was always funny yet yummy.
You were persistently so gentle and kind
I can’t believe you were mine.
You were over six feet tall; every time I stood by you, you made me feel small.
I remember when you danced to NSYNC singing Bye, Bye, Bye.
I laughed so hard I almost cried.
You had a spectacular personality
Continually being spontaneous and happy
When me and Erin slept over you gave us Oreo cereal for breakfast
But in the morning it was your smile that fulfilled us
You were loving and brave
But now you rest peacefully at the grave.
I wish you were here to see us all grow up.
I know you would’ve been proud of us.
It has been ten years since you passed away
And I have missed you for 3650 days.
Let your family be together as one
And cherish the moments of fun.
I never got to say goodbye, so as I cry
This is what I have to say: “I love you grandpa forever and always.” <3

The 10th year anniversary of the death of my grandfather was arriving when i wrote this. My grandmother was my motivation to write this for her because she is 86 years old and just had to undergo a high risk stomach surgery. Then she was depressed being in rehab and I know she missed my grandpa so I gave this to her the same day he died, Christmas Eve night. She was crying and loved it. My family is most important and i feel blessed having the people I have in my life.
